Announcement: Chargers to end in October 2024 |
After ten years and hundreds of runs together, we’ve made the difficult decision to close Chargers in October this year.
In 2021, we moved further away from Cardiff, and thanks to the support of our fellow run leaders, we were able to keep the club going. However, our work and time commitments have changed significantly over the last decade, and we no longer feel we can devote as much time to the club as it deserves.
Cardiff has a wonderful, vibrant running community, and there are many more options for social running than when we started back in 2014. We hope the club has contributed in a small part to building this community.
Though the club is so much bigger than the two of us, we’re not looking for anyone to take it over. If you’re looking for a new club, Run Wales’ database is a great place to start. https://irun.wales
We’re so proud of our ten years with Chargers. From winning Welsh Athletics ‘Running Group of the Year’ to helping our runners keep going through the challenges of the pandemic, we have a collective accomplishment that we carry with us for the rest of our lives. Most importantly, we’re proud of what you’ve achieved, from our Starters’ first miles without stopping to our hardcore runners’ tales of trails and ultras. Time after time, your commitment blew us away and kept us motivated. To everyone who has run, walked, skipped and ‘crab-squatted’ with us along the way, you have our eternal thanks.
Before signing off, we want to thank our fellow Run Leaders: Faye (and Wilf), Mark, Richard C, Richard E, Lindsay, Wendy and Toby. We will thank you many more times yet, as we cannot express our gratitude enough. You made all this possible.
Eventually, all good things must end, but we hope you’ll continue to support the club between now and our final session on Monday 14th October.
We’re not done yet, and we’ll make the most of our remaining runs together. If we must finish, let’s finish strong.
See you on the start line,
Gray & Amy
